ACRE's are Peacocks!

As all of you know, I'm an avid lover of the Simple Truths program. I recently watched this video and I think it would be worth 3 minutes of your time to watch as well. It is the story of ACRE and real estate, it is Mollie's story about consulting. I'm wondering if we can get permission to put this up on The Consulting Times, and our web sites. It would make a consumer "get it" as well as help in recruiting other ACRE's.

don't know what went wrong, it shows the link on my preview, but not when it gets published. Anyway, lets try again.

Paula, I assume you meant: "Peacocks are Penquins." It made me cry my friend - oh yes, we ACREs ARE Peacocks!

Here's the link - everyone PLEASE take a moment and watch this and then comment here. It is so uplifting and true: http://www.perrythepeacock.com.

In fact, I was so moved by it, that I wrote this email to Simple Truths:

Have you considered licensing any of your movies so that they can be embedded on a web site? I would gladly pay for the right to have the "Peacocks" movie embedded on our site as it so vividly illustrates what we're about.

Please let me know,

It WAS good, and no I did mean that ACRE'S ARE PEACOCKS, because if you watch the movie, the Peacok is the one that 'thinks outside the box' just like us ACRE's do.

Let me know what you find out from ST about the licensing thing, I'm an affiliate with them, so maybe I can help out with my limited time available. I'm still dealing with my personal Mom dying crisis as well as my upcoming surgery, so that is why I love Simple Truths, they keep you motivated, uplifted and give you hope that all things will work out in the long run.

I do agree with you that it so vividly illustrates what we are all about that it is worth a link to The Consulting Times (which would also be benefical to them) and if we can get permission to put on our web sites, it will make all the difference in the world as far as education in real estate and choices for Consumers and agents. They will all 'get it' from this movie, and as a 3rd party endorsement, nothing could be better!

I watched this this morning as I waited to get my MRI done to schedule my back surgery, and even all of the people at the office were interested! There were 3 office workers, one who wanted to sell their house, the other two who wanted to buy a house, and they were all asking me questions about consulting. Needless to say, due to time constraints, I gave them my card and said to email me and I'd get back with them.

Life is great in spite of the problems one faces, some good comes from some bad, and we all help each other out when needed. THAT is what I like most about ACRE, we are family.

Happy day to all!
;-) Paula

btw - while I was trying to post this link as a new entry, I ran across some verbiage I was unfamiliar with.
Trackbacks is one of them, is there a video on this, or could we do a webinar on it in the near future?

Trackbacks are not enabled nor used in the Exchange.
Merv

PS: No video ... no instruction.

ok, call me stupid, BUTT... if trackbacks aren't enabled, then why is there info on it when trying to post a new entry?

To be quite honest, I don't even know what a trackback IS, but if there are options on the add a new entry that are not available, then why are they listed?

I was just curious that I was missing out on something, I'm sure there is a perfectly plausible explanation that I will still not understand ;-)

OK. If you really don't want to see this do the following:

When creating an entry there is a link towards the upper right labeled "Display Options"

Click it.

Uncheck "Feedback"

Click "Save" oops ... Click "OK"

You will see "Trackbacks" no more.

As a quicker alternative, you can just ignore it. :-)

There are, I think, features of Movable Type that are part of it's "backbone" that are not "user modifyable". Trackbacks would be pretty useless in the setting of our "private" members only blog.

I googled for definition, and found this on a Wordpress tutorial..."In layman’s terms, trackback is a way to notify a website when you publish an entry that references it."

In other words, if you and I each had a separate blog, and I wrote something about your blog, created a link on my blog to yours, your blog system would get a notification that I had linked to you. For search engine and/or spider purposes, this would mean an "incoming link" for your blog, which would be positive for your blog's rankings. Since this is a members only system...and we're all posting on the same blog, there's no need for such a thing.

Now, I will say that I think I understand this "conceptually"...but what I wrote may not be "technically" correct. If that's the case, my apologies.

Bottom line, IGNORE the trackback reference. We don't use it...as Merv said.

Also LOVE THE PEACOCK video. Thanks for sharing it, Paula. And Mollie, let us know what you hear back from Simple Truths. As it stands, I plan to include a link to it from my sites...I think it helps to make a very good point for us as ACREs and well as for the general public who sometimes needs encouragement to "step out of the box" in their own lives.

ok, got the ignore thing with trackbacks ;-) I ignore a lot of stuff, just thought it was something I was missing out on.

regarding the Peacock video - for those of you who want to use it, go to simple truths.com and sign up as an affiliate and ask permission to use this on your site (you will probably need to buy it first, if so, I can get you a discount or you can sign up as an affiliate and do the same thing, I think).

It wowed me, it seemed to speak from the ACRE heart, and all the hard work Mollie has put in to giving people options, stepping outside the box and choices.

It is time we all made that concious decision to do what is best for us and our clients....be a PEACOCK!
