How Great Leaders Inspire Action

ACRE® Lester Langdon last night sent me a link to a video by Simon Sinek "How Great Leaders Inspire Action". At first, seeing how long it was (18:05), my first reaction was that I'd watch it later when I had time. But I started it, and couldn't stop it until I watched it through.

I suspect that Lester sent the link directly to me rather than posting it because I'm the "leader" of ACRE®. But quite honestly, the talk that Sinek gives should be watched by every ACRE®, summed up in a phrase that he uses throughout this video:

"People don't buy what you do. They buy why you do it."

I urge every ACRE® to watch this video. It is very powerful and will provide insights into how to present consulting to the public. After watching it, please give me your impressions by commenting on this post.

Lester, thank you very much for sharing this. I'm going to now buy his book to bring with me on vacation on Saturday.

Sinek's speech was inspiring and informative.  I think it is true that if you speak what you believe, you will attack people who believe what you believe. Your 'why" is the key. As we continue to believe in the power of the consulting model, we will attrack more consumers because we have their best interests in mind. A dialogue instead of a monologue develops which empowers the people that we serve. Once again, Simon, this is  a great video.

An important point that I got from Sinek's speech

Whenever involved In marketing communications, PR, websites, speechs, introductions, etc,

FIRST WHY, then how, then what I (we) do.

If asked what I do, I first start with why I do it.

I am still refining the following. Maybe not enough WHY

We do not wish to do business with everyone who needs our help.

We want business with people who believe what we believe,

To challenge the status quo and believe in thinking differently.

Our mission is to become the revised industry standard in a changing industry for quality, professional, reliable, consistent help through consulting at a fair value (I may add ... instead of a high commission.)

Lester, you may want to check out Peter Guber's book, "Tell to Win-Connect, Persuade, and Triumph with the Hidden Power of Story."  It might help you to fill in some of the blanks.

Very inspirational and though-provoking.  More from Sinek at http://www.startwithwhy.com/

Yes, Mollie, EVERY ACRE SHOULD WATCH THIS.

ACRE's are challenging the status quo of commission, with the real estate consulting business model. We are giving consumers a choice in how they pay for and choose real estate services, customizing the service to thier particular need. Why are we doing this?  To provide clients with options giving them total transperancy in the services we provide and what they are paying for.

Thanks Lester this is a great video!
