TRUE OR FALSE...Do Agents really "SELL" Buyers?

Automobile salespeople "SELL" car buyers. Insurance salespeople "SELL" insurance buyers. Sockbrokers "SELL" stocks to stock buyers. Do real estate agents really "SELL" homes to homebuyers? No! Real Estate Agents don't "persuade", influence, or convince homebuyers to "Buy" anything. Agents only use their knowledge, experience, and judgment (fiduciary) to price the home correctly for the Sellers. Then, the Buyers themselves, decide which home they like best, and THEY (the Buyers) make an offer.

Jose, in the beginning, real estate WAS a sales profession charged with moving the product. There was really no difference between selling a house and selling any other merchandise.

The difference is we are now charged with acting as a fiduciary, putting the needs of the client above all others including, and most especially, our own. Yet, we are still paid as though our only obligation was to move the merchandise. It's a huge disconnect that has put agents in a terrible bind and I believe, makes the public question our worth as fiduciaries.

Whatever it is that we believe we are or are not. The ultimale goal is to bring two distinct parties together within a certain framework. We come to clarity what we truly are in our minds each time we close a transaction . We are salespeople in some form or fashion within every transaction at some point when contracted to move what the sellers is offering. We just have to learn for ourselves that we are more and communicate that in every deal that we do if only for ourselves.
